Ph.D. - Chemical Engineering

What will I study?

Our Ph.D. program in chemical engineering will focus on the quantitative methods characteristic of engineering.  You may choose between a variety of electives tailored to your specific interests.

We strive to provide you with an advanced foundation in traditional chemical engineering topics, electives to complement your research area, as well as training in professional development skills to prepare you for your high-level research and development industrial, or academic career.

A total of 60 credit hours are required for the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. This includes 12 hours in core ECHE courses, 12 hours in ECHE or other approved electives, six hours of ECHE 797 (Directed Research) and 30 hours of dissertation preparation.

What will I research?

Ongoing research activity among chemical engineering core and affiliate faculty includes biotechnology, computational modeling, nanoscience, materials engineering, and energy, as well as many other areas aligned with national and international research thrusts in this ever changing discipline.
