Our MFMS team consists of experts in the field of 3D printing with continious carbon
reinforced fiber polymers, induction welding of thermoplastic composites, and steered
fiber laminate optimization
Angel Anderson received her BSB in Human Resource Management from Columbia College
and her Project Management and GRANT certificate from the University of South Carolina.
She is the Program Coordinator for the MFMS team and the undergraduate Aerospace program.
She joined the McNAIR team in May of 2015, and her primary focus is project management
for the MFMS team
Robert Moore received his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South
Carolina and is a Lab Technical Manager working with the MFMS team, as well as the
McNair Center and Civil Engineering Structures Lab. His primary focus is on mechanical
design, design of experiment, and fabrication.
Darun Barazanchy obtained his BSc and MSc in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University
of Technology in 2011 and 2013 respectively. After 1 year as researcher at the Faculty
of Aerospace Engineering he pursued his Ph.D. at the Department of Mechanical Engineering
at the University of South Carolina. Currently, he is a post-doctoral research fellow
focusing on computational mechanics.
Wout De Backer
Wout’s research interest include continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic additive
manufacturing, structural design of composites and aircraft design. His research focus
is on additive manufacturing process development, tool path planning software development,
and systems integration. His work includes material formatting for 3D printing, and
industrialization-related aspects of the research.
Jessie is a PhD graduate student and his main research focus areas include induction
heating/welding, design and manufacturing of thermoplastic composites, structural
design and analysis, aircraft design, and flight mechanics.
Floris-Jan van Zanten
Floris-Jan van Zanten is a PhD student at the MFMS team, he has a BSc and MSc in Aerospace
Engineering. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the department of Mechanical Engineering
at the University of South Carolina. His main interests lie in the field of computational
mechanics, structural analysis and design
