Research Institute

The College of Education Research Institute is housed in the Office of Research and Innovation under the direction of the Dean’s Office. The Research Institute provides the infrastructure to integrate the work of existing and future centers under one overarching entity to create a multi-faceted partnership which engages the talents and experiences of educators, faculty, and researchers to conduct collaborative work related to all areas of education.

Our vision is to promote positive change within the educational community that will enhance the lives of students and families in South Carolina, across the nation, and around the world. As our mission, the Research Institute designs, performs, and shares innovative research that informs and influences education policy and practice to improve the lives of students and families. This Institute and its multiple research centers have dedicated faculty, pre- and post-award support staff, office space and laboratory space across three buildings on campus to support the development, successful completion and dissemination of results of externally funded projects. Centers include the Research, Evaluation and Measurement Center; the South Carolina Educational Policy Center; the Yvonne and Schuyler Moore Child Development Research Center; the Center for the Education and Equity of African American Students; and the South Carolina Center for Assistive Technology and Educational Research.
