Schedule a Tour of the New J-school Building
We want to show our alumni and friends around the new home of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, which opened in July 2015. A bold change from the dark basement of the Carolina Coliseum, the new building boasts 54,000 square feet, 67 miles of cable and 140 windows. Today’s journalism is changing at lightning speed, and this new facility ensures that students will continue to graduate at the forefront of the industry. Come, see the new home of new media!
Schedule a Tour of Davis College & SCCCL
Built in 1909, Davis College is the home of the School of Library and Information Science. The building is located just past the historic University of South Carolina Horseshoe. Davis College’s façade was recently restored with the help of a 3-D printer, making it a place where history and innovation coexist. SLIS alumni may also be interested in visiting the South Carolina Center for Community Literacy, located at 1430 Senate Street. SCCCL was established in 1992 as a resource center to support teaching, learning and research related to children's and young-adult literature and materials. The center provides information, education, and support services for faculty and students in teacher education and library science, classroom teachers, librarians, and parents statewide.
