Career Fair

The 2021 Virtual Career Fair will be held
Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The CIC Career Symposium, sponsored by the Nebo Agency, is focused on developing our students, both professionally and personally, by offering multiple opportunities for students to engage with professionals to learn more about potential career paths, internships and full-time jobs.

All of the Career Symposium events will take place February 1-17, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all events will take place virtually including the career fair, which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

We will be using CareerEco for our virtual career fair, a well-regarded platform used by schools such as Stanford, Duke and Georgia Tech! Through this platform, employers and students can engage over group and 1-1 chat, with video and screen sharing capabilities.

Student Registration

College of Information and Communications majors and minors — including all undergraduates, Master of Mass Communications and Master of Library and Information Science students — are invited to attend but must register for the event.

Step 1: Create Career Eco profile by selecting "Register Now" and "Register as an Individual" using your UofSC email

Step 2: Upload your resume and other relevant career documents. Don't forget to include the links to your portfolio and LinkedIn profile on your resume.

Step 3: Browse the registered employers. Plan to attend group sessions from a number of employers. Use this as an opportunity to test the waters! Check to see their available chat times on Feb. 17.

Interested in a company? Check out their job openings and click "express interest"! Employers may reach out to you to schedule a 1-1 conversation, or private chats. Treat this like an informal interview.

During group chats, employers can turn on their video or share their screen, but student video will be disabled. However, during private chats, both employers and students can turn on their video.

Prior to the fair, please test your computer audio, microphone and Wi-Fi

Step 4: Make a schedule for yourself of group and private chats. Make time to visit with multiple employers!

Step 2: Follow up! It's always a good idea to follow up with employers you meet at career fairs. Sending a follow-up letter or email reiterates your interest in the organization and serves as a reminder of who you are to a busy recruiter who met with several students during the event.

Employer Registration

We want to make your job easier! You can find your next great candidate in the comfort of your home! A few hours at our fair could yield you up to 100 resumes! Attend our virtual career fair for FREE by registering below.

We highly recommend designating 2-3 members of your team to interact with students during the virtual career fair. This makes it easier to interact with multiple candidates over group and individual chat. Learn more about Career Eco during this 4-minute video.

Step 1: Create Career Eco profile, select "Register now" and "Register as an Employer" and complete the following sections, as applicable:

  1. About Page
  2. Job postings: available internships, and full-time jobs
  3. Majors you are recruiting for
  4. Your website and contact information

Step 2: Once your registration is approved, you can add your chat times. What time do you want to be available to students for group or individual chat on February 17th?

During group chats, employers can turn on their video or share their screen, but student video will be disabled. However, during private chats, both employers and students can turn on their video.

Step 3: Upload any additional documents you want to share with candidates. Think of this like the handouts you would have on your table at an in-person fair! This can make it easier to attach documents during your presentation.

Step 4: Register on Handshake so students know you’re coming!
