Buchheit Family Lecture
The Buchheit Family Lecture Series was created in 2000 in honor of the late Phil Buchheit, the former president and chairman of Mid-South Management Company and the former publisher of the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. The series is sponsored by the Buchheit Family Endowment, which provides undergraduate scholarships and graduate and doctoral fellowships to students of the university’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Baldwin Business and Financial Journalism Lecture

The Baldwin Lecture Series is funded by the Baldwin Business and Financial Journalism Endowment, given by Kenneth W. Baldwin, Jr. A 1949 graduate of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, Baldwin funded the endowment in 2009 to equip students with a depth of knowledge to investigate and report on the most significant and complex business and financial topics that affect consumers and taxpayers.

Deans’ and Directors’ Lecture
This lecture honors the previous deans and directors of the School of Library and Information Science. A reception and ceremony for outstanding students and the induction of new members into Beta Phi Mu, the national honor society in library and information science, takes place before the event.
Our annual mentoring program pairs alumni with students interested in their particular field. Alumni and students across the college are encouraged to participate. This year-long program kicks off with a matching event each fall.
The Annual Literacy Leaders Awards celebrate South Carolinians who have “gone above and beyond” in the quest to eliminate illiteracy. This year’s ceremony will be held on International Literacy Day.

Gamecocks on the Green
Each fall, the College of Information and Communications invites alumni back to campus to celebrate Homecoming on Gibbes Green. The annual party, Gamecocks on the Green, brings together around 200 alumni to reconnect and celebrate Gamecock football.
