As globalization reaches into increasingly more aspects of our lives, successful citizens need an international perspective to make sense of the world, and they need the skills to maneuver effectively in it. I invite you to come to the Walker Institute, where you will find the resources you need to be globally engaged.
The programming sponsored by the Walker Institute challenges students to see the world through myriad perspectives. Consequently, it opens their eyes to the beauty and complexity of the world, while the exposure to new places and people makes them familiar and less exotic. In addition, the Walker Institute provides a forum for faculty from across the USC campus to meet and share ideas about global issues and produce scholarship that advances our awareness of the challenges that face specific regions of the world. Our objective is to engage faculty around international issues, and share their enthusiasm for understanding the world with our students, who we believe will be the next generation of leaders.
Our degree programs provide students with language skills and enhance their knowledge of international trends in ways that put current problems in perspective. Because they are explicitly interdisciplinary, our programs allow students to interact with the best faculty from all across the campus. The curriculum underscores our conviction that to understand the world, one must constantly cast a wide net and sample knowledge from many places to see new trends and connections.
Whether you are a student, a faculty member, or a community leader interested in international issues, we invite you to come and see how the Walker Institute can help you to succeed in a globalized world.
