Jennifer Tarr has taught film and video production for the last 15+ years at varying colleges and universities across the east coast, guiding hundreds of students from introductory “first films” to their graduate level theses. Although her personal work falls into the genres of personal and experimental film, she teaches all levels and genres of filmmaking in the Media Arts Program at the University of South Carolina and mentors students through Independent Projects and occasional Special Topics Courses.
MART 371: The Moving Image
MART 571A: Narrative Video Production
MART 571D: Experimental Film Production
MART 571E: Cinematography
Students can expect the unexpected and unusual in her classes. Drawing on film, editing with unusually fast paced structures, and making films about your own experiences are all par for the course in Professor Tarr’s approach to media production. “My purpose here as an instructor is to push students into areas of art, film and video production they may not explore on their own and help them develop their own ideas, leaving my classes with polished and portfolio quality, film festival ready works."
