Assistant Professor, Media Arts/3D Digital Media
The School of Visual Art and Design at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Media Arts, to commence August 16, 2020 at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates who incorporate a wide range of digital animation-related skills into their creative practice. This can include, but is not limited to, 3D rendering, model/asset creation, rigging, texturing, deployment pipelines, inverse kinematics, and general applied usage across a wide range of platforms (including cinema, gaming, and VR). A successful candidate’s research will bring together forward-thinking methods of animation and creative prowess as demonstrated by a record of exhibition and recognition approaching a national level.
The teaching emphasis will be in general media education, 3D animation, traditional animation, digital performance, game development, and other emerging art forms. A successful candidate will provide our students with a robust skill set that will support their ability to develop digital arts-related media and experiences, while using new animation technologies.
A successful applicant will be willing to teach a range of production courses across a diverse undergraduate and graduate media arts curriculum, from digital media arts foundations to advanced production in several specialties. The successful candidate must have the appropriate terminal degree in hand by August 15, 2020.
