A New Play Based on the Real Stories of American Teachers
Written and Directed by Peter Duffy
Based on hundreds of interviews and surveys with educators from across the US, Peter Duffy’s ReformED is an unflinching portrait of being a teacher in America. Sherry is an experienced teacher who is asked to mentor a first-year educator, Theresa. Over the course of their school year, the challenges of what it means to be a teacher in the age of educational reform come to light, and they are faced with the decision of whether or not to remain in the profession.
With text taken directly from the recorded comments of real-life educators, ReformED rings true like a homeroom bell, representing the experience of being a teacher in America with passion, dedication, wisdom, heart-break, humor, and love. ReformED is not just a play for teachers; rather, it is a story for anyone who cares about how we educate the next generation, and an appeal for all of us to reconsider the quality of education we provide to our children.
