Cindy Flach

Cindy Flach has been an Adjunct at UofSC since 1989, teaching West African Dance, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Tap, World Dance and Dance Appreciation.  She was the director of the Student Choreography Showcase from 2004 through 2020.  

Cindy hails from St. Louis, Mo. where she graduated from Webster University.  She has taught at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina as well as Columbia Ballet School and Palmetto Performing Arts.  She has directed and choreographed for The Tri District Arts Consortium since 1995, and has been theatre coordinator since 2012.

Ms. Flach has received two Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching awards as well as a Capstone Area Award for Excellence in Teaching and an Outstanding Professor award by the National Dance Education Organization.

She has trained extensively in St. Louis, Mo. as well as New York City, New York and Los Angeles, California.  Her teachers/mentors include Robert Audy, Nat Horne, Chet Walker, Henry LeTang, Mary Jane Brown and Ruth Currier in New York and Lee Theodore and the American Dance Machine.

Musical Theatre is Cindy Flach’s passion.  She has choreographed over 200 stage musicals for university, professional and community theatres in Missouri, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.  She has been the resident choreographer for the South Carolina Shakespeare Company and for Opera At USC from 1992 to 2000.   

Some favorite productions choregraphed and/or directed include Hairspray, The Producers, Anything Goes, Damn Yankees, Dreamgirls, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Pippin, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Kiss Me KateFiddler on the Roof and Oliver.
