Joining a professional organization as a student is a great way to get a head start on networking, to see how other professional are applying their degree and to learn about career opportunities. 

Alpha Kappa Delta

Our department hosts the GAMMA chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociological honor society. Sociology majors and other students with a serious interest in sociology may be eligible to become members. Look for announcements each year concerning this opportunity. 

 

American Sociological Association

The American Sociological Association is a great way to stay involved with sociologists around the country, keep up on the latest research and get additional career resources when you're ready to graduate. As a student, you're eligible for a discounted membership rate. 

 

Southern Sociological Association

The Southern Sociological Association is an organization dedicated to promoting sociology throughout the South. Your discounted student membership will get you access to the newsletters, announcements and subscription to their magazine, Social Currents,
