Ariel entered the Clinical-Community PhD program in 2016. She previously studied biological anthropology at Temple University, graduating with honors. She subsequently received a master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in anthropology. She has studied health behaviors among indigenous hunter-gatherer groups in Colombia, social norms in middle school students in New Jersey, and suicidal ideation among Veterans and inpatient populations.
Within the department she works with Abe Wandersman. Specific projects include refining a readiness measure for program implementation, investigating the integration of primary care and behavioral health in community practices, and technical assistance for state-wide fatherhood initiatives.
