Professor Stauffer received her Ph.D. from Indiana University in 2018 and joined the faculty the same year. Her research and teaching focus on topics related to gender and politics, representation, electoral politics, and public opinion. She is also affiliated faculty with the Women’s and Gender Studies Program.
Broadly, her research examines how gender shapes American political behavior and the actions of elite actors. Her current book project explores how group presence and perceptions of political representation influence American opinion towards legislative bodies and their members. Professor Stauffer’s research has been published, or is forthcoming, in /Political Research Quarterly,/ /Electoral Studies/, /European Journal of Politics and Gender,/ and /Politics & Gender/.
