At UofSC, we understand philosophy in terms of its stance towards inquiry. Philosophical questions are those that concern the foundations of inquiry, and make visible the underlying assumptions on which all further questions rest. Philosophy thus provides the resources to ask, and attempt to answer, ‘The Big Questions’, such as: How can we know anything? What is the morally right thing to do? What do we mean when we call something beautiful?
