Patti Marinelli


Ms. Marinelli is a Senior Instructor in the Spanish Program, where she also coordinates Spanish 122.

A veteran teacher with a special interest in beginning-level Spanish, Marinelli is also author of several college textbooks. Puentes, her groundbreaking Spanish textbook for high-beginning students, is now in its sixth edition. Her latest work, Conectados, is an innovative, comprehensive learning program designed to work with face-to-face, hybrid, flipped and online introductory Spanish courses.

Marinelli hales form Ohio, where she was graduated Summa Cum Laude from Miami University. She continued her studies at the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a Master of Arts in Spanish with a specialty in Romance Linguistics. She then lived and worked in Spain and Italy before beginning her career at the University of South Carolina. The recipient of many university awards, Marinelli was also named Teacher of the Year by the South Carolina Foreign Language Teachers' Association in 2008.
