My research in multiple testing is mostly focused in the area of Bioinformatics. My
joint work with Dr. John Grego and Dr. Jim Lynch is aimed towards developing a mixture
model based methodology that can be used to test large number of hypotheses simultaneously.
We are using this method to analyze big data e.g. gene expression data, microbiome
data and to explore gene regulatory network.
My research in applied probability involves anomalous diffusion processes and their connection with fractional derivatives. One application area of this kind of stochastic processes is the particle tracking method used in heavy tailed ground-water contamination modeling. I am working with Dr. Hong Wang (Department of Mathematics) in a project that uses numerical solutions of fractional differential equations to generate these diffusion processes and use them to model the contaminant transport in ground water plumes.
