My name is Orie A Brooks. (赤尾小理絵、ブルックス) Professionally known as Youko Brooks.( 陽子ブルックス)I am originally from Tokyo. I taught Japanese from the elementary to high school level for thirteen years before coming to USC. At USC, I instruct Japanese language and culture courses. I am a USC graduate and received my Ph.D. in Educational Research. I enjoy studying and have been trained in many traditional Japanese cultural activities such as Japanese tea ceremony, brush writing, and flower arrangements to name a few things. At USC, I have especially enjoyed teaching the Introductory Japanese culture class where students have the opportunity to explore their own interests in a specific part of Japanese culture. My other involvements have included being an instructor for a Maymester trip course to Japan and I am also currently acting as the Nihon Club advisor.
