Position: Undergraduate Research Assistant, Department of Anthropology

Description:

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Sherina Feliciano-Santos and a collaborative research team to transcribe and analyze recordings of speakers of Southern varieties of English for a National Science Foundation-sponsored research project on criminal justice conducted with researchers at NYU. The work will require the use of Word and Express Scribe. Student will receive onsite training if needed. Student will be expected to do some filing and inventory of data. The candidate will be required to work on campus on a designated project desktop.  Undergraduate research assistant will be working directly under the supervision of the Graduate Research Assistant working on the project.

Qualifications:

The position will require a student who is an independent worker, learns quickly, communicates well, is detailed, patient, and mature.  The student must be able to work in a collaborative setting. 

Preferred experience:

Completion of at least one college course in Sociocultural Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, and/or Linguistics.

Compensation:

The position is somewhat flexible in terms of times of work, but requires 10 hrs/week of work and will be compensated at $15/hr.
