Bio: Michelle was born and raised in Martin, TN. Her focus in history is the American South in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with a field in public history. At her hometown university she was able to pursue her love of history as well as her other interests such as music, travel and art, often blending them together. Michelle was an active traveler during her undergraduate years, she went on two travel studies, to Eastern Europe and the U.S. East Coast, and two study abroads in France and Italy. History was often a focal point of those trips and the various ways in which history was presented to the public intrigued her. Because of her interest in public history, Michelle made significant advances in connecting the history department student organization with the community by hosting historically themed events at local businesses and the city library. She hopes to continue fostering relationships between history and public institutions in upcoming years.
