Associate Professor Jonathan Edwards has been named a 2025 McCausland Faculty Fellow
Associate Professor Jonathan Edwards has been named a 2025 McCausland Faculty Fellow by the College of Arts and Sciences. Supporting early career CAS faculty who are “committed, creative teachers and rising stars in their disciplines,” the McCausland Fellowships are the premiere faculty fellowships offered by the College. This is a tremendous honor and a powerful testament to the important work Edwards is doing as a teacher and scholar here at USC.
Edwards is an acclaimed scholar of political communication whose work is particularly interested in thinking about the rhetoric surrounding religion and religious communities. He is the author of an acclaimed study of the intersection of religion and politics in the United States, Superchurch: The Rhetoric and Politics of American Fundamentalism and the co-editor, along with Eric C. Miller, of Rhetoric of the Protestant Sermon in America: Pulpit Discourse at the Turn of the Millennium. His work spans multiple disciplines and and has appeared in journals such as Rhetoric Society Quarterly and Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies. He is currently working on a monograph exploring the influence of Christian textbooks on American conservatism.
