Kelsey J. Ihinger received her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019 and completed her B.A. at Carleton College. Before beginning her graduate work, she worked as an English Teaching Assistant for the Fulbright Commission of Spain in Madrid.
Dr. Ihinger has led students on study abroad programs in Costa Rica and taught Introduction to Humanities at SUNY Geneseo before coming to the University of South Carolina to teach Spanish in 2019. Her research focuses on the representation of history and its relation to identity in early modern Spain. Specifically, she is interested in the role that England played in Spain’s conceptualization of its imperial image.
