Research Activities and Graduate Faculty List
Members of the group have a diverse set of interests aimed at understanding plant development and their responses to the environment. These include molecular signaling in response to pathogens and herbivores, flower development, small RNA biology, post-transcriptional gene silencing, iron transport and homeostasis, phytoplankton photosynthesis and aquatic primary production, wetland ecology, and biomass production and nanotechnology.
We run controlled studies at the USC greenhouse and at other high quality environmental growth facilities. Members carry out field studies at various sites around South Carolina, the US Rocky Mountains, and the Brazilian Pantanal. Our highly interactive group includes graduate students who participate in a monthly Plant seminar series, a Plant specific curriculum, and a number of travel and research awards.
