SOWK 751 - Youth and Substance Use

Course Description

Students are introduced to the unique dynamics of substance use among adolescent populations. Students gain foundational knowledge about adolescent development, substance use trends and prevalence among adolescent populations. Risk and protective factors are explored that impact adolescent substance use, and systems of care for this unique group.

Online Session Information

Students will be expected to participate in online meetings via Adobe Connect on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45-8:30 pm. Recorded lectures may also be viewed at a later time. The Adobe Connect URL will be posted in Blackboard by the instructor prior to the first class meeting. High-speed Internet access is required for Adobe Connect. This course is considered synchronous which means that students are expected to log on to the course during the designated time.

Course Delivery Type

A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc. Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.
