STAT 518 - Nonparametric Statistical Methods

Class Session: Thursday, August 24, 2017 - Friday, December 08, 2017

Credit: 3 semester hours of undergraduate/graduate credit

Prerequisites: A grade of C or higher in STAT 515 or equivalent

Course Description

Application of nonparametric statistical methods rather than mathematical development. Levels of measurement, comparisons of two independent populations, comparisons of two dependent populations, test of fit, nonparametric analysis of variance, and correlation.

General Information

Course will be delivered by Web conferencing utilizing Adobe Connect and by streaming video. Students may be present, either in person or online, for the class sessions Monday Wednesday and Friday, 9:40 a.m. - 10:30 p.m., or may view the class at a later time. USC Columbia students may attend classes in Williams-Brice Building (Nursing) room 409. All other students will view classes via the Internet and may call in with questions during class time. For students viewing the class live online, the Adobe Connect URL will be posted in Blackboard by the instructor prior to the first class meeting.

Course Delivery Type

A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc. Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.

(100% asynchronous - if course has any online or face-to-face meetings, live attendance will not be required. For any such sessions, there will be alternative ways to view or obtain the material covered).

Course Materials

Textbooks are available from the USC University Bookstore in the Russell House Student Union, Greene Street, Columbia, SC, 803-777-4160 (toll free at 888-654-5320). Online text ordering is available through the bookstore Web site at Delivery options are in-store pickup or UPS shipping (Ground, Second Day, or Next Day). Students are required to indicate their course section to order online; there will be a "J" prefix on the course SECTION number for this course. Contact the bookstore for questions about the online ordering system.

Special Fee Notification

Students may be required to be proctored during online test completion. If students are unable to attend test proctoring sessions in person at the Distributed Learning office, additional fees may apply for online test proctoring if the course requires online testing.
