Continuing Education

Our commitment to educate the residents of South Carolina can be seen through programs that help you get into college, get ahead at work or simply learn something new.

Personal Interest Courses - Carolina Classroom

We provide high-quality educational opportunities for lifelong learners. Our noncredit personal-interest courses offer you an accessible and affordable way to learning something new. Current and retired university faculty and alumni teach workshops, and offer lectures and explorations. Classes are usually held on the Columbia campus.

Professional Education and Certificate Programs

We offer continuing education opportunities designed to impact employees and their organizations and make career changers more marketable in the current economic environment. All courses are taught by practicing professionals, selected for their industry expertise and exceptional teaching abilities. Our programs are scheduled for the busy professional, with many evening, weekend and online offerings.

Test Preparation

Whether you plan to enroll in undergraduate, graduate, law or business school, University Test Prep can help you reach your educational goals. We offer preparation courses for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, SAT and ACT. Your scores on these tests not only determine whether you get into schools, but help qualify you for merit-based scholarships, grants and other tuition assistance.

Youth and Teen Pre-University Programs

Academically gifted students in grades 5-12 can take advantage of a collection of programs designed just for them. These educational adventures allow students to explore future professions, refine skills in the performing arts, experience student life on a university campus and use facilities and laboratories generally not available in local schools.

Fort Jackson Program

Active-duty military personnel, their family members, Department of Defense civilian employees, National Guard members, reservists and veterans can earn associate degrees through the Fort Jackson Program.

On Your Time Initiatives

We want to make lifelong learning easy to achieve. Students outside of a traditional degree program can take advantage of classes for personal enrichment or professional development. Transient students from other college and university programs can also find support.
