Brown Scholarship is awarded to a worthy incoming student whose major is in the Moore School of Business, with priority going to those in financial need. The scholarship is automatically renewed annually for up to three years if the student has a 3.5 GPA or higher, is in good standing with the Honors College, and remains in the Moore School of Business. This scholarship requires a FAFSA form be completed through the Office of Financial Aid.

Established by Edmund Foley's mother to honor his memory as a creative and thoughtful student. Eligibility will be determined by the Honors College thesis coordinator and a review committee. The Foley family established this fund to assist students who are pursuing senior theses that reflect Edmund’s interest in the “philosophy of mind or another topic addressed in his unique style: creative, thoughtful, tolerant, and fun loving.” This is a one-time, non-renewable award. The thesis grant application will qualify as the application for this award.

Established by the Belser family in memory of its namesakes. The Belser scholarship is a full-tuition, need-based scholarship awarded to a worthy incoming Honors College freshman who demonstrates financial need, with preference given to students who are residents of South Carolina. Recipients must be pursuing a B.S. degree in one of the following disciplines: Biochemistry and Molecular Chemistry; Biological Sciences; Biology; Biomedical Engineering; Cardiovascular Technology; Chemical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Engineering; Computer Information Systems; Computer Sciences; Electrical Engineering; Engineering Sciences; Geological Sciences; Geophysics; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Physics; or Statistics. The scholarship may be renewed annually for up to three years if the recipient remains in good standing with the Honors College and continues to study in the academic areas mentioned above. This scholarship requires a FAFSA form be completed through the Office of Financial Aid.

Established by Honors College alumni Allison and Paul Aitchison in honor of his parents. Eligible students should hail from the state of South Carolina and should be studying science or math. Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BARSC) majors with a science or math focus may be included. Preference shall be given to students from Georgetown, Greenville, Lexington or Richland counties. The scholarship is automatically renewed annually for up to three years if the student has a 3.5 GPA or higher and is in good standing with the Honors College.

The Fishman Family and Komito Scholarship is awarded to junior and seniors whose majors are in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management or who have declared an interest in Pre-law. If the recipient is a junior, the scholarship may be awarded for one consecutive year given the student maintains his/her current course of study, remains in good standing with the Honors College, and maintains a GPA of 3.5 or better.

Herin Scholarship is awarded to an out-of-state student who has completed one year of study. The scholarship is automatically renewed annually if these requirements are still met.

Established in honor of two former Deans of the South Carolina Honors College. To qualify, interested rising juniors and seniors must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, be in good standing with the Honors College, and demonstrate financial need (FAFSA form submitted to financial aid). Students beyond their 4th year may apply for this award; however, priority will be given to 3rd and 4th year students. Awards to 5th-year students will be made on a funds-available basis. This scholarship is automatically renewed for rising seniors who received the award as rising juniors if the above requirements continue to be met. Students who receive the award during their 4th year must reapply to receive it in their 5th year.

Established by an anonymous donor to support the Honors College's out-of-state students. Receipt of this scholarship entitles the student to reduced tuition, which is not the same as in-state tuition. Please see the Bursar's fee schedule for more information. This scholarship is awarded annually to current and incoming students who have received no other University scholarship support. To qualify, interested students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, have no USC or departmental scholarships, and be in good standing with the Honors College. For scholarship renewal, students must submit a letter addressed to the Dean of the Honors College and emailed to scholarships@schc.sc.edu stating that they are still out-of-state residents, have met the GPA eligibility requirement of 3.5 at the end of the Spring semester, and have no USC or departmental scholarships. Letters must be sent by June 1 of each year for the scholarship to be renewed.

Numerous donors established this fund in memory of Summer Smith Taylor, a 1993 Honors College and Carolina Scholar alumna. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, Taylor went on to become an Associate Professor at Clemson University. The Summer Smith Taylor Internship Award supports current Honors College students engaged in internships where technical writing is a substantial part of their job duties (i.e. more than 50%). Students must be in good standing with the South Carolina Honors College to be eligible. This is a one-time, non-renewable award. To apply, the student must submit a one-page letter of intent to the Internship Coordinator explaining why he/she should be considered and how he/she would benefit from the scholarship. The letter should briefly discuss the student’s financial situation and how this scholarship will help. A copy of the job description for the technical writing position should also be included.

The fund can support students in a variety of ways depending on their plan and needs. Forms of support include, but are not limited to: scholarships, stipends, award, grants, airfare, reimbursements, etc. Decisions will be made by the South Carolina Honors College scholarship committee.

Established by the Eta Gamma Chapter of Chi Omega in recognition of the chapter’s upcoming centennial and its commitment to scholarship and community service. The Chi Omega Centennial Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior who has exhibited a consistent level of commitment to serving others in the local and Gamecock community and who participates in extracurricular activities beyond academia, with priority going to those in financial need. To qualify, interested students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be in good standing with the Honors College. Applicants do not have to be members of Chi Omega. This award is automatically renewed if the student still meets the eligibility requirements.

It is the donors’ preference that the recipient be a student who has the desire to be an educator of French and who has studied abroad in France for at least one semester, with a preference for an academic year abroad to foster the scholar’s immersion in the French culture. Preference will be given to those student(s) demonstrating academic excellence and financial need, those that have submitted a FAFSA form to the Office of Financial Aid and those who are in good standing with the Honors College and the University altogether.
