| Applicant must be a Broadcast Journalism major in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. The student must have completed J325 and J326. The G. Richard Shafto Student Fellowships are for Broadcast Journalism Majors who want an intense internship experience at WIS-TV and it's Emmy Award winning Newsroom. The Sfafto Student Fellow spends at least 200 hours of internship work in the WIS Newsroom, working with reporters, producers, and news management as a part of the daily new operation of the station. Students receive a $3,000 stipend as part of the internship, and then bring their experiences back to the classroom as they work with the Senior Semester Newscast. Scholarships will be awarded as follows: one freshman recipient, one sophomore recipient, two junior recipients and two senior recipients.
