USC Spartanburg is a senior metropolitan university located near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Upstate of South Carolina. The universitys location and strong academic programs have made it a leader in the region since its founding in 1967. Undergraduate enrollment for the 2000 fall semester was 3,492. With 155 full-time teaching faculty members, USCS offers excellent academic programs in the liberal arts, sciences, business administration, nursing, and teacher education. USCS moved to the graduate level in spring 1994 with masters degree programs in early childhood education and elementary education. The modern, 298-acre campus features eight major buildings, including a new Campus Life Center, Performing Arts Center, tennis courts, athletic fields, and a child development center. A University-owned 100-unit apartment complex, University Commons, houses 400 students. USCS fields 10 intercollegiate athletic teams and is a member of NCAA Division II Peach Belt Athletic Conference.
