USC Salkehatchie partners with Lowcountry AHEC to provide simulation training

The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie has partnered with the South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium (AHEC) to expand experiential learning opportunities for nurse practitioner, physician assistant, pharmacy and nursing students who are committed to underserved and rural communities.

Middle School Students Take Flight

Around 75 sixth-grade students from Allendale Fairfax Middle School and Colleton County Middle School participated in USC Salkehatchie's Take Flight! Aviation Camp. The camp is offered as part of USC Salkehatchie's STEM program in partnership with Boeing South Carolina, the Hiram E. Mann Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen and Joint Base Charleston.

USC Salkehatchie hosted its first annual Run, Walk, Dunk, Spike 5K benefiting its women's volleyball and basketball teams on Oct. 8.

The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie opened two new Palmetto College iCarolina Community Learning Labs on Tuesday, June 21, at its campuses in Allendale and Walterboro. USC Salkehatchie celebrates commencement

USC Salkehatchie celebrated its commencement in a ceremony held on the Salkehatchie Commons at the Allendale campus on April 29. 138 associate degrees were awarded as well as 29 bachelor's degrees through the University of South Carolina's Palmetto College and in partnership with other regional campuses. The 145 graduates represented 9 states and 13 high school students.

Salkehatchie partnership graduates first USC Beaufort nursing cohort

After graduating 122 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students through USC Salkehatchie's partnership with the University of South Carolina's College of Nursing, a new tradition has begun. USC Salkehatchie is now in partnership with USC Beaufort to deliver the BSN program to Salkehatchie-based students.

Lai receives Plyler Excellence in Service Award

Dr. Bryan Lai, professor of mathematics, is the 2022 recipient of the Chris P. Plyler Excellence in Service award from the University of South Carolina. The award is given to recognize outstanding service by a full-time faculty member at a Palmetto College campus.

Burns Receives Duffy Excellence in Teaching Award

Dr. Francis Burns, assistant professor of chemistry, is the recipient of the 2022 John J. Duffy Excellence in Teaching award from the University of South Carolina. The award recognizes a Palmetto College faculty member who demonstrates outstanding teaching.

Dangerfield Shares History with Daughters of the American Revolution

USC Salkehatchie Assistant Professor of History David W. Dangerfield presented a lecture to the Rebecca Motte Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution at the Old Exchange Building in Charleston. His lecture, "Liberty and its Limits: Free People of Color, the American Revolution, and South Carolina," surveyed how African Americans experienced the Revolution and their interactions with both the British and American sides.

First engineering cohort to graduate this spring

Zachary Wilson and Jacob Horn are USC Salkehatchie's first group of students to complete the first two years of requirements for its 2 + 2 Industrial Process Engineering program with USC Aiken.

Salkehatchie students participate in the Amazing History Race

Students at USC Salkehatchie took time from their studies to participate in the Amazing History Race in which students competed to complete obstacles with the fastest time while learning about local history. The activity, created by Dr. Sarah Miller, professor of history, was based on the popular TV show where contestants travel around the world and complete tasks related to their travels
