Dr. Evan Faulkenbury is the University Historian for the University of South Carolina. In this role, he researches, teaches, and shares anything and everything about USC history. Collaborating with others from across campus and the community, Dr. Faulkenbury is making sure that Gamecocks know their history…and become part of the story, too.

Before arriving at USC in August 2024, Dr. Faulkenbury taught public history and United States history at the State University of New York at Cortland for eight years. He earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of Poll Power: The Voter Education Project and the Movement for the Ballot in the American South (UNC Press, 2019), co-editor of Teaching Public History (UNC Press, 2023), and has published articles in The Public Historian, the Oral History Review, the Journal of African American History, among others.
