|Office of Undergraduate Admissions|
I am a South Carolina native, raised in the small town of Wedgefield (in Sumter County). I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Coastal Carolina University in 2015, where I was very active and involved both on campus and within the surrounding communities. Only a few months after graduating from CCU, I started my graduate school journey and secured my master’s degree in higher education from Columbia College. When I’m not on campus, you can catch me spending time with my family, singing, crafting and binge-watching shows on Netflix.
My advice for transfer students is to make a conscious effort to find your place at your new university. As a transfer student, I can imagine that you sometimes feel separate from the rest of the community (especially if you live off campus). Take an active role in building a social life. Join clubs and organizations to be around students who share your interests. Connect with other transfers because they’re in the same situation as you. Stay open to the opportunities that will show themselves, both on and off campus.
