Student Affairs and Academic Support provides essential resources to support the individual
needs of our students and enrich their experience at the University of South Carolina.
Each campus sets their own admissions standards and establishes their own enrollment management processes and plans. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) is advisory to the other campuses. OUA serves as the OneCarolina subject matter expert (SME) and Admissions Data Steward for all admissions offices, graduate and undergraduate, for the USC System and, as such, provides system-wide leadership on all aspects of system implementation, configuration, management, testing, training, maintenance, data warehouse and reporting.
OUA coordinates and hosts an annual meeting of all admissions offices to periodically review, update and train on Banner and other admissions issues. The OUA staff conducts periodic Banner training for all admissions offices to help with on boarding new staff. OUA supports recruiting to other campuses by recommending system campus enrollment as an alternative pathway to a USC degree and by providing lists of prospective students who were not admitted to Columbia to the other campuses for recruitment. OUA also consults and advises on general admissions best practices to system campuses.

While each USC campus maintains its own identity for federal, state and institutional aid purposes, the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (OSFAS) provides leadership and guidance in all of these areas. The OSFAS has a long history of providing leadership in the annual preparation of new aid year processing and business process design. This leadership role was significantly heightened with the implementation of the Banner Student Information System. The Banner Financial Aid Team from the OSFAS led all facets of the implementation of the Banner Financial Aid module in collaboration with the aid offices at each campus. During the implementation, business practices were designed and implemented to benefit all campuses.
The Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships for the OSFAFS serves as the Financial Aid Subject Matter Expert for Phase I of the OneCarolina project and represents all of the campuses in that role. The Banner Financial Aid Team in the OSFAS leads all efforts related to the maintenance of the Banner Financial Aid module. This includes the testing and implementation of all Banner financial aid releases, the creation of cross-campus Data Warehouse reports, the creation of job scheduling software structures that control all automated aid processes for all campuses and the representation of the campuses at cross-functional discussions. They serve as the primary Banner and Data Warehouse resource for the campus aid offices as they configure and maintain their processes within these platforms.
For Phase II of the OneCarolina project, the Financial Aid Subject Matter Expert, along with the OSFAS Financial Aid Banner Team, has served in a leadership role in coordinating interfaces between Banner Financial Aid module, the PeopleSoft student hire process and the PeopleSoft student HR efforts, for the benefit of all campuses.
The OSFAS serves as the primary point of contact during the annual A-133 federal student aid audit, which covers all campuses.
The OSFAS administers the Faculty/Staff Dependents’ Scholarship program for all campuses. The OSFAS also hosts a monthly conference call with the campus aid offices, and hosts an annual meeting with all campus aid offices in preparation for each new aid year. As the change to a “prior prior year” aid process has progressed for the 2017-18 aid year, the OSFAS has taken a leadership role in planning for this very significant change.

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is the data steward for the system and maintains the official academic record for all students enrolled on any USC campus. The OUR issues all official academic transcripts. This stewardship involves data integrity, security and archival management campus-wide.
Provides technical, policy and procedure leadership and expertise. Leads efforts to evaluate, deploy, and manage enterprise-wide technology solutions. OUR often purchases or leads the procurement for enterprise-wide systems. Centrally deploys and manages enterprise-wide solutions to gain efficiencies and cost savings for the benefit of all campuses.
Serves as OneCarolina Subject Matter Expert. Guided the implementation for the system by setting up all rules, tables and processes in Banner to serve each campus and the system. Conducts all testing for new releases, upgrades, trouble-shooting and error corrections to the software. Serves as a resource when campuses require technical assistance, new employee onboarding and training on systems or procedures.
Manages and supports Resource 25 room scheduling, DegreeWorks, the system configurations for university academic calendars, registration controls, graduation support, data reporting, veterans services and other areas under registration and records.
Serves as the office of escalation for system-wide policy concerns. Periodically coordinates system-wide records and registration meetings, and provides leadership in strategic planning and best practices.
