The Office of Research supports the pursuit of excellence at the University of South Carolina by creating an academic environment that guides scholarly and creative innovation.

• Supports faculty in securing funding for their research and their creative and scholarly activities
• Enhances the teaching and learning environment at the university by integrating research into the educational experience of undergraduate and graduate students
• Ensures the integrity of research and provides assurance to governmental and private funding agencies--and to the public--that research is conducted in accordance with the law and to the highest ethical standards
• Promotes interdisciplinary research as an important component of economic development
