The Office of System Affairs was established by the Board of Trustees in February 2015. The mission of the office is to work closely with system leadership to to facilitate USC’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research and community engagement.
The Office of System Affairs provides a nexus for cooperation and planning between and among system institutions. The office facilitates the implementation of shared goals across the University of South Carolina system. It is our mission to collaborate with all campuses to enhance access, facilitate students' progress and persistence, advance learning and support community engagement.
Advancing Our Mission
The Office of System Affairs:
We:
- identify best practices and transmit knowledge between institutions
- support the collection and exchange of data
- enhance public awareness of the system and each of its institutions
- maintain content on system website
- seek opportunity for collaboration among faculty across the system
We:
- lobby for consistent attention to system matters
- highlight unique strength and character of each institution
- advocate for system needs and policies
- provide on-the-spot troubleshooting for legal, financial, human resources, data and academic program issues
We:
- continue to improve access to the system for all South Carolinians
- promote persistence to graduation
- provide clear transfer pathways between institutions
- respond to industry requirements while maintaining academic rigor
- promote innovative solutions to academic needs, including distributed learning and online degrees
- foster internal and external partnerships
We:
- review university policies
- authorizing system-wide policies
- review academic affairs materials
We:
- pursue opportunities for new federal, state and private funding
- identify successful academic or administrative programs in other university systems with potential replicability in South Carolina
