Graduate Success Consultant

Graduate and professional students face unique challenges that impact their well-being, their sense of belonging, and their academic progress. From overcoming academic challenges to managing their finances, we’re here to help graduate students develop the skills to thrive in their programs and beyond. We can support you through one-on-one success consultations, accountability groups, and presentations.

Eligibility

To be considered, you must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Be a graduate student at the University of South Carolina – Columbia
  • Have completed one semester at the University of South Carolina - Columbia by your start date
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Have a desire to help your fellow students

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead 1-on-1 appointments (Success Consultations and Money Management Consultations) with students to promote positive academic and money management behaviors and strategies for grad school success
  • Host weekly accountability groups to promote community building and independent work habits
  • Attend ongoing professional development
  • Respond to SSC communication
  • Accurately report on appointments and drop-in visits through the online scheduling software
  • Maintain confidential student records and communication
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Graduate Student Support or the Graduate Assistant of Graduate Student Support

Breakdown of Hours

  • Work between 5-10 hours per week
