Health Screenings

Regular screenings can help catch medical problems early and prevent disease. We offer walk-in appointments for students and free worksite screenings for faculty and staff.

No appointment is required for our common testing services, and walk-in visits only take a few minutes.

What to Expect
We'll run a routine check of your blood pressure using a band that tightens around your arm.

Cost: The charge for a cholesterol screening will depend on your health insurance. Call 803-777-3174 for pricing.

What to Expect
This test is done in the lab. We'll ask you to fast for at least eight hours, then do a routine blood test. We'll test the lipids levels in your blood to check that your cholesterol is within healthy limits.

Cost: The charge for diabetes, or glucose, screenings will depend on your health insurance. Call 803-777-3174 for pricing.

What to Expect
We'll ask you to fast for 10 to 12 hours, then do a routine blood draw. The glucose levels in your blood will help determine if you have diabetes.

Worksite Screenings for Faculty & Staff

USC faculty, staff, retirees and their covered spouses whose primary insurance is the Standard Plan or the Savings Plan can get a free worksite screening once per year.

Appointment Times: Worksite screenings are available weekday mornings. 
What to Bring: Your proof of insurance and CarolinaCard.

After your visit, complete this short survey to provide us some feedback about your visit.

 

Included in the State Health Plan Worksite Screening

  • Lipid Profile: Cholesterol, LDL (low density lipoproteins), HDL (high density lipoproteins) and triglycerides
  • Chemistry Profile: Blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, glucose and electrolytes
  • Hemogram: Red and white blood cell, hemoglobin and hematocrit
  • Blood Pressure: Routine blood pressure test with a band that tightens around your arm
  • Height and Weight: Routine measurements
