The Gamecock Research Administrators Network Training (GRANT) Certificate Program prepares research administrators to work with faculty in their departments to manage the administrative functions related to grants and sponsored awards. The GRANT certificate program complements the national standards established by the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA). GRANT guides research staff through the ins and outs of grant administration, from pre- to post-award functions, with instruction from administrators from SAM, Grants and Funds Management, and USC departments.
To earn a GRANT certificate, participants must complete a series of classes, up to 45 hours, with some hours being electives, and pass a comprehensive final exam. The GRANT program is offered every fall semester and completed over two semesters, with classes every other week for three hours. Each course includes a lecture, practical activities, and participant-driven discussions. After successful completion, there is a graduation ceremony, and the Vice President for Research presents the certificates.
