Purpose:
Reporting directly to the President of the University of South Carolina system, the Presidential Faculty Fellow provides executive and development support to the President.  The Presidential Faculty Fellow serves as a liaison for the President with internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the President.

Job Duties:

Serves as conduit for communication between the President and faculty; makes President aware of environmental concerns and provides on-going feedback regarding various issues affecting faculty and the university community.

Manages confidential and strategic information in preparation for various meetings, engagement, and outreach. Researches, complies, analyzes and organizes information for the President’s use in discussions and meetings with university officials, and offices, executive staff members, faculty, students and external contacts.  Represents faculty in senior level meetings with all internal and external constituents.  Builds trust relationships with constituents and faculty.

Accompanies President on trips and meetings.  Provides support and records pertinent information to ensure follow-up; prepares President for scheduled meetings and trips by gathering information and confirming that talking points, agendas, and pertinent meeting materials have been submitted for his review.  

Serves as the liaison between the President and other university officials and offices, members of the Board of Trustees, public and private officials, various boards, faculty, staff, students and the other entities served by the university. Represents the President’s Office on select university committees. 

Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the President, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature.  Determines, in consultation with the President, appropriate course of action, referral, or response.

Works collaboratively with the President and provides leadership to build relationships with key leaders to aid in the success of the university; manages a variety of special projects for the President, some of which may have organizational impact.

Provides direct coordination in support to the President for the strategic planning and on-going operations for the USC system.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
A Ph.D. and 7 years experience as a faculty member. Must be a current full-time UofSC faculty member.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Hours of Work/Other Information:  The incumbent must be flexible to working after normal business hours and weekends to attend meetings and events as needed. Appointment as Faculty Fellow will be a one-year term. Prior to accepting the assignment, the incumbent must work with their Dean/Department Chair to obtain exemption from normal teaching requirements during the upcoming academic year.
