Families and Guests

Join us for a special virtual programming for families and guest, where you will learn more about the University of South Carolina.

Welcome to the Family!

New Student Orientation is the first step in helping your student successfully join our Gamecock community. But Orientation isn’t just for students—parents and families play a critical role in their success. That’s where we come in! The Office of New Student Orientation is offering various online resources and webinars to help you support your student’s transition to the University of South Carolina.

Whether this is your first college student or fifth, we invite you to participate in our Family and Guest Orientation program and become familiar with all the resources available to both you and your student. The program is available throughout the summer so you can customize your schedule to fit your needs.

What to Expect

Our Family and Guest Orientation program runs concurrently with New Student Orientation and focuses on a wide variety of topics and subjects that families and guests should find helpful during their student’s first year.

Families and guests will have the opportunity to connect with administration, faculty and staff to discuss their student’s needs and upcoming experiences. They will also have an opportunity to learn more about their student’s academic college and their chosen college and major. In an effort to promote social distancing, we strongly encourage each student attending an in-person Orientation session to bring no more than one family member or guest.

As a part of the program, you will:

  • Be introduced to academic policies and support resources
  • Receive information on a variety of services and ways students can get involved at the university
  • Ask questions of current students, staff and administrators
  • Learn about and join the Parents Association
