Registration for New Student Orientation is now open and closes May 16. Read below to learn more about your academic advising process.
Overview
Students with majors belonging to the Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing, Arnold School of Public Health, College of Information and Communications and the College of Nursing are eligible for Pre-Orientation Academic Advising. Pending completion of specified pre-requisites, students will meet virtually with an academic advisor and register for fall courses before their New Student Orientation session. Attendance at Orientation is still required. Students within these populations who do not wish to participate in Pre-Orientation Academic Advising will be advised and registered for classes during Orientation.
March 19 | Registration opens for New Student Orientation
May 1 | Deadline to pay enrollment deposit to USC Admissions
May 5 | Cocky Transitions Part 1 and advising appointment scheduling available
May 16 | Registration for New Student Orientation closes
May 19 | Pre-Orientation Academic Advising Appointments begin
May 23 | Deadline to complete Cocky Transitions Part 1
May 27 | Deadline to schedule Pre-Orientation Academic Advising Appointments
Two weeks prior to Orientation | Complete Cocky Transitions Part 2
Students must complete the following tasks in order to participate in Pre-Orientation Academic Advising:
- Register for New Student Orientation. Registration opens March 19 at Noon ET and closes May 16.
- Complete the Enrollment Checklist in your USC Admissions Portal. This includes completing your immunization forms, placement tests and citizenship and residency verifications.
- Complete Part 1 of Cocky Transitions. Let's get cocky about becoming a Gamecock! Our comprehensive Pre-Orientation Modules will set the tone for your Orientation and deliver important information about your specific USC experience. Part one will include important information regarding Pre-Orientation Academic Advisement.
- Complete the Pre-Advising Worksheet in your USC Admissions Portal. This will help your advisor prepare for your advising appointment and identify a successful course plan for you.
- Download Navigate360. This is where you will schedule and manage your academic advising appointment.
- Download Microsoft Teams. This is a video-chat platform free to all students with their USC email. Microsoft Teams is how you will meet with your advisor virtually.
- Check your USC email frequently. The Office of New Student Orientation, Undergraduate Admissions and University Advising Center will contact you with important updates and reminders. Be sure to check your email so you don't miss any information!
