Media and Society
This course will provide students with a solid foundation of the mass media – covering the history, theory and economics surrounding and associated with mass communication industries.
Learning Objectives/Outcomes
By the end of this course, students should be able to do the following:
- Understand the evolution, economics, trends and cultural-interplay surrounding mass communication industries
- Identify key historical figures and important milestones in the evolution of mass media
- Critically reflect on the positive and negative effects of media on society
- Students will recognize the relationship between topics studied in class and examples observed in our current media environment and culture
