The Institute on Reframing Your Approach to Disabilities on Your Campus

Colleges and universities are seeing an increase in the number of enrolled students with a range of disabilities.  The Institute on Reframing Your Approach to Disabilities on Your Campus: College Student Success for Students with Learning Disabilities, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder will allow attendees the opportunity to approach disability from the perspective of difference.  There will be strategies for supporting students with specific learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder or students who display learning and behavioral characteristics associated with these profiles.

Individual sessions are designed to build on one another so that participants leave with actionable items for use on their home campuses. Modeling the active pedagogies we advocate for our classrooms, the institute faculty employ group work, problem solving, case studies, discussion, and other active strategies to engage participants in learning.

Focused Topics:

  • The Postsecondary Context of Learning Disabilities
  • Who Are the Students with Learning Disabilities?
  • College Transition Experiences for Students with Learning Disabilities
  • Supporting Students with Learning Disabilities in the Classroom
  • Recommendations for Better Serving Students with Learning Disabilities
