Forrest Lane is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Sam Houston State University. He holds an MS in higher education administration and a PhD in educational research from the University of North Texas. His research focuses on the behavioral characteristics of college students as well as programs that help to support college student learning, particularly programs designed for transfer students and students who may come to college academically underprepared. This research has been published in outlets, such as the Journal of College and Character, Journal of College Student Development, Journal of The First-Year Experience & Students in Transition, and Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development. He is an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), the National Association of Developmental Education (NADE), and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). He was selected as a Greater Texas Foundation Fellow in 2017 and currently serves as President-elect of the Southwest Educational Research Association (SERA).
