My Room

As your new home, we encourage our students to treat it with care.  This will be a place where you will create some of lifes most cherished memories and it all starts with being prepared for the best experience possible.

All You Need To Know

University Housing will continue to release information about your room right up until move in.  Check back frequently for updates of important information that you will need to know about your room.

If you want to use a microwave or refrigerator in your residence hall room, you'll need to purchase or rent a combination microwave and refrigerator called a microfridge. No individual refrigerators or microwaves are allowed in rooms that have beds in them. A microwave is acceptable in apartments only.

Traditional-style bathrooms are cleaned daily during the week.  Suite and Apartment-style bathrooms are cleaned once a month by University Housing.  Please ensure that items are put away from counters and shower areas on the day your floor is cleaned. 

*Please note that residents of the Park Place community are responsible for bathroom cleaning throughout their stay.

University Housing is home to a maintenance department exclusively for our residence hall buildings.  If you have a non-emergency maintenance issues throughout the year, you can contact them online.  Emergency and maintenance issues that may cause permanent damage to property should be reported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 803-777-FIXX (3499).

As members of the Carolina Community, you are expected to treat your residence hall as a HOME.  Damage to community items are treated as damage by the community, so please be aware that the entire community will be charged  for damages to elevators, hallways and entrances.  

To receive the green room certification and to determine your “green” status, attend a Green Dorm Room Certification event hosted by your building’s EcoRep or email to ask about receiving a “Green Dorm Room Certification” questionnaire and certification sticker.

To assist you in having the best living experience possible, University Housing will provide all residents with a roommate agreement.  This agreement is a guideline setup jointly by roommates to govern everything from visitors, food sharing and personal space.  A residence life team member will provide further information during your initial floor meetings.

Review the University Technology Services (UTS) website at for computer recommendations and requirements. You will need a 25-foot Ethernet cable to connect to the data jack in your room. Also, don’t forget to update your operating system with all critical patches. You can install free antivirus software when you arrive to campus. When you move in, you’ll need to know your network username and password to complete your setup. Simply log on to to find this information.
