Move-In Crew

Want to make a difference at South Carolina?  Be a part of the Carolina Move-In Crew and assist first-year students as they move into their new home on campus.

For the purposes of enhanced wellness for residents and staff, we have suspended the Move Crew for Fall 2020.

Everything you need to know

Any person or group wishing to participate must complete the Move-In Crew application and be confirmed by University Housing before assisting with move in.

Carolina faculty, staff and official peer leader gours or registered student organizations.

Share the excitement with new students and parents as they experience the Gamecock spirit for the very first time.  You will be creating fond memories that they will cherish for years to come.  We're expecting another large first-year student class, so we anticipate needing at least 1,200 volunteers.  UofSC undergraduate students can enter into a raffle to win a free spot at a UofSC parking garage.  These students must volunteer a minimum of 4 hours in order to enter the raffle.

Your first priority is to welcome everyone that joins us on move in day.  In addition you will be asked to:

  • Greet families and provide instructions or point them in the right direction as they check in
  • Help students and parents promptly unload their cars
  • Assist families with moving items from their vehicals into their residence halls.

You will not need any speical training - just come with a smile on your face and a "can do" attitude (and maybe a refillable water bottle, too).  All volunteers must wear the official Move-In Crew t-shirt, which will be provided and available in early August.

In late July or early August, you will receive an email with our official volunteer time/location assignment, instruction on how to sign the required waiver, where to pick up your t-shirt and other important details.
