Applying For Housing FAQ

A - The housing application closes on May 15 on my.sc.edu via the Housing Portal.

A - These assignments are being made on a rolling basis and Faculty Lead communities are currently being reviewed by each Faculty team.  We anticipate response updates each week until May 15.

A - While we don't grantee housing locations, we can say that we have always been able to accommodate Capstone Scholars within the Capstone Village (Capstone and Columbia Halls).

A - Yes, you can update your housing application as many times as you like before May 15.  After May 15 your application is locked in.

A - No, you can only select or roommate match with one other person.  The second half of a suite or apartment is dictated by the room selection process.

A - Currently, all quads are tied to a Faculty Lead LIving and Learning community.  Carolina General is the only housing not tied to a community.  Carolina General is defined as any room or building not assigned to a community.  So there is always a chance, but they are very slim.

A - You will not be allowed to roommate match with that individual.  Both roommates must be in the same community to live together for Fall 2021.

A - Room selection will take place in the housing portal in Self-Service Carolina starting the first part of June.

A - We will have further guidance about Move-In requirements as we get closer to New Student Orientation this summer.

A - Individuals wishing to take part in the sorority recruitment process will be notified by Greek and Sorority life of their early move-in day.  Typically, this occurs in the middle of August.

A - Priority for housing is based on the date of application to University Housing.  So don't delay, submit your housing application as soon as possible.

A - Supplemental applications are required of students who want to live in faculty-led communities within the residence halls. When completing the housing application you must complete the supplemental application as well to be considered for these communities.
