Living-Learning Communities

Living-learning communities (LLCs) provide students with unique living environments that engage them with students of similar interests.  Before completing the housing application, learn more about our LLCs and how they can be a part of your future at Carolina.

Programs

As a new incoming student, you may be a part of special University program that will dictate your housing options.  Make sure you are aware of the housing options available to you before beginning the housing application.

Medical & Special Requests

It is important for students with special housing requests to thoroughly review the housing accommodations section of the application. Students must meet all the requirements listed on the application to be considered for specific accommodations. Students must also register any housing accommodations with the Student Disability Resource Center in order to process the request.

Step 4 - Explore Your Housing Options

Step 5 - Housing Building Assignment

Building Assignment

Residence halls and communities will be assigned on a rolling basis after February 15.  You will either be assigned a Learning Community or Carolina General Housing.  Consideration for buildings and communities is based on the date of application to University Housing.  The sooner you apply, the sooner you will know your building/community assignment.

Roommate Selection

The roommate matching section of the application will be available mid-March, once you receive a building or community assignment. All roommate matching is completed at my.sc.edu in the housing portal. You will only be able to select roommates from those students living in the community you are selected to.  (Roommate matching will remain open until June 30)

Step 6 - Room Selection

This information will be available in the housing portal once your building assignment is posted. These dates and times vary by building and community. (Room selection will begin June 1 and run through June 30)

Step 7 - Move-In Day

First-Year Living Requirement

All first-year students are required to live on campus for a full academic year.
