Preston Residential College is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and dedicated student to serve as our 2023 Summer Intern. Applicants must be pre-enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours at the University of South Carolina- Columbia Campus for Fall 2023 and in good academic standing. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for serving as the main contact for prospective students and parents during the summer months (May – August). The candidate will also provide tours and answer questions that future Gamecocks have regarding the community. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for administrative tasks assigned by the Senior Assistant Principal. 

 

Position Duities & Responsibilities 

• Assist with recruitment events / operations that take place during the summer months. 
• Serve as a liaison for incoming first year students and provide knowledge regarding the community. 
• Provide tours of the community to prospective students and families.  
• Assisting in administrative duties to include but not limited to answering phone calls, filing and mail pickup. 
• Attend staff meetings on a regular basis as directed. 
• Other duties as assigned by the Faculty Principal. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

• Available to work up to 37.5 hours a week during the summer months (May – August). 
• Strong oral and written communication skills. 
• A strong attention to detail and organization. 
• Must be in good academic standing and pre-enrolled for Fall 2023. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Undergraduate student that has previously lived in the Preston Residential Community.

Anticipated Work Hours 

• Standard operating hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Friday. Schedule must be flexible to meet the needs of the department.
