English is the medium of instruction for the Business School. Students typically earn 12-15 USC credit hours per semester. Exchange students can select courses as long as they meet the prerequisite requirements and subject to space availabilities. Some courses may require professor approval for enrollment.

Students are expected to take courses from the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. To see courses UofSC students have taken at this university, please reference the Registrar's Course Equivalency Table

Participating fully in university life can help you get the most out of your university education. Not just by participating in student and community activities and in campus social life, but also in the way the university is run.  You can do this in many different ways. For example, serve on any of the various University Committees which convey student opinions and suggestions to staff in formal or informal ways. This is not only genuinely helpful to and appreciated by the university and other students, but also provides you with a great deal of practical experience for your future.

Per university policy, all UofSC students will be charged emergency medical, evacuation and repatriation insurance for their time abroad. Contact the Education Abroad Office for more details.

All exchange students are accommodated in university-provided double occupancy student halls. There are 9 on-campus halls and 1 off-campus hall for UG students. Hall assignments are all decided by the housing office. Except for the off-campus Jockey Club Hall, all other on-campus hall preferences will not be entertained. Roommate preferences are also not entertained.

IB students will attend HKUST during the spring semester only. The Spring semester at HKUST begins in early February and ends in late May.

Orientation is compulsory and held on the last or second last working day before the start of each semester. Students will be briefed on the Student Center System, add/drop procedures, student ID card registration, etc. Exchange students are assigned a Business (SBM) buddy. This buddy is a local business school student who has gone and/or will go on exchange. The buddy will assist the exchange student with airport reception, settling in on-campus, and various other matters to help students adapt to their new environment during the semester.

All exchange students must apply for a HK student visa before arriving in Hong Kong. Students should apply approximately two months prior to their arrival in Hong Kong. All foreign students without the right of abode, right to land in HK or dependent’s visa need a student visa to study in HK. Student visa applications are routed to the Office of Global Learning (OGL) for handling. OGL will submit all visa applications to HK Immigration Department. The student visa will be emailed to students when ready. Student visa documents must be submitted in a TIMELY manner or will be withdrawn.
